Uno, dos…Tres! Easy as 1,2,3 I found myself caring and loving a new sliver lab puppy with a deformity in his leg. He was born with 5 toes (not including his due claw) and a broken knee that could not be fixed, amputation was the only way to go according to two different vets. My brother, who had the litter of sliver labs, asked if I would take him and give him a caring home so he wouldn’t have to put him down. How could I say no to such a cute face? My boyfriend and I found ourselves struggling to get him potty trained and eating while our other dogs are around. The one thing that stood out to me in the first month of having Tres is that he is the biggest cuddle bug you will ever meet. He wakes me up in the morning by kissing me and putting his head on my shoulder so I will pet him. We decided that we should have the surgery preformed after Christmas once all the craziness was over with the family. At 15 weeks of age, on Wednesday Jan. 2, 2013 we took him that day (I couldn’t handle it alone, we had to shop and find other things to do not at home to keep my mind off of him). He came home that very night, all drugged up and a sad look on his face. The very next day he was hopping in and out of the doggie, but he still cant seem to sleep through the night, he is constantly waking me up every hour ( I think he is getting restless as the pain killers wear off). He gets his stitches out next Saturday! Does anyone have newbie tips for this lady and her amazing boyfriend who wont leave his side!
